Getting started

  1. On Home, under Your mods, choose New mod.
  2. Pick a loader and a Minecraft version. A click picks one; Ctrl or Shift and a click adds another, so one mod can target several loaders and versions. What Linen will make beside the form lists the folders and files before anything is written.
  3. Fill in the mod’s name and create it. Linen sets up the Java version that Minecraft version needs and imports the project.

Choose Open or import and pick the mod’s folder. A folder with one version per subfolder works too: Linen sets each one up, and you switch between them in the same window.

Press Play the game on the mod’s Home, or Run in the top bar. The Run stage shows the game log with your mod’s lines first and Minecraft’s names readable; if the game crashes, Crash Doctor says why.

Linen Check reads the mod the way the game will: registrations, models, loot tables, names, mixins and the build. The status bar says whether it passes; Home lists what to fix, with the file and the fix in plain words.

Under Add to your mod, Linen writes a block, an item, a recipe, a loot table or a texture from your version’s own templates. You see every file before it is written.
