An IDE for Minecraft mods and plugins

Make Minecraft mods, not build files.

Linen sets up any loader and version from 1.12.2 to 26.x, shows every block and item your mod has, runs the game, and says in plain words what's wrong.

Free for the newest Minecraft version · Pro from €7.99 a month

Start

A mod that builds, before you write a line

Pick a loader and a Minecraft version and Linen makes the project from templates made for that era of that loader, with the Java version it needs.

  • Mods for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt and Legacy Fabric
  • Plugins for Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur
  • One mod across several loaders and versions
Linen's New mod screen: a loader and Minecraft version chosen, and the folders and files Linen will make listed beside the form

Assets

Every block and item, and what it still lacks

The Assets page shows everything your mod registers with its texture, model, loot table, name and recipe, and tells you what is missing.

  • Textures from 21 templates in any colour
  • Recipes shown as the crafting grid
  • Open a model in Blockbench

Add

A block in one step, in your version's own format

Add a block, an item, a recipe or a loot table and Linen writes every file it needs for your loader and version. You see each file before it is written.

  • Blockstates, models, loot, names and textures
  • Recipes in the right folder and format
  • Nothing written until you say so

And the rest of the workbench

The tools a modder reaches for every day, each in plain words.

Linen Check

Reads registrations, models, loot tables, names and mixins the way the game will, and names the file and the fix.

Play the game

Run the client or server from Linen, with a game log that shows your mod's lines first and Minecraft's names readable.

Crash DoctorPro

Reads a crash report and says in plain words which mod and which line, and what to change.

The game's own codePro

Minecraft and the loader decompiled on your machine for your version. Find every use of a name.

Hot swapPro

Change a texture, model or data file and see it in the running game without restarting.

The AcademyPro

Learn modding inside Linen, and hover a name in your own code to have it explained.

AI, if you want it

Works without AI. Better with your own Claude.

Every tool above works with no AI account. With your own Claude plan, Linen runs Anthropic's Claude Code, unmodified, and gives it what it needs to get Minecraft right.

  • Your project's exact loader, version and mappings
  • Tools that look up the real API instead of guessing
  • Linen Check on every file it changes

Questions

What is free?
Free is a preview for the newest Minecraft version: the editor, New mod, running the game and Linen Check. Pro unlocks every version from 1.12.2 and everything else, for €7.99 a month or €59.99 a year.
Do I need Claude or any AI?
No. Linen works without AI. If you have a Claude plan, Linen runs Anthropic's Claude Code with it; Anthropic bills you, Linen never does.
Does Linen upload my code or the game's code?
Linen uploads neither. The decompiled game code stays on your machine. Claude Code, when you use it, sends what it reads to Anthropic under your own account, including the parts of the game's code it looks up through Linen's tools, unless you turn that off in Settings.
Is this made by Mojang?
No. Linen is made by an independent modder. It is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
